They're launching a new album No Clocks, No Calendars.

Here's a few youtube vids with some previews... just the lead singer, Jeff Holmes.

Never heard of... my ass!
lol!

Jeff Holmes: lead singer, guitar, lyrical mastermind, personal hero.

tfm.com

are your speakers on?

the floatilla: news

So, now, the show, this most recent and mind-blowingly-fuckin-amazing show...

Jeff, solo, premiered his new album / rock opera.

1st act
characters

(don't expect these last 2 files to be around long)

It may easily be his masterpiece (of an 18 year career)... although I may have said that before, I really really mean it this time.

I was a new experience... in more ways than one. I have never (except the very first one ever) been to a Floating Men concert where I didn't sing along (most of the time). I had only heard a few of the opera songs prior to this evening... and they were still in the fine-tuning stages... and still are...

but, point being I didn't know all the words. Weird.

cheers

I found over 40 different links... to either the floating men, Jeff Holmes and/or Scott Evans (vocals and bass)... btw. I had no idea.

PostSubject: the film, the rock opera, the TFM   Sat Aug 08, 2009 10:46 pm

i just saw my heroes again, in Atlanta. On the 25th, they played a lil place called Eddie's Attic. The show was too short for my taste, but they always are. TFM could never play long enough for me.

There are only a few more shows this year...

there's the one in Indiana, that I will not be attending...
then there are 3 more in TN...
at least one of which, I am currently trying to talk myself into...

they will premiere the second act of their new rock opera in Nashville, Sunday, August 30th. Then, the following weekend, is their annual Labor Day show. It's Saturday and Sunday night. Then, on Sunday afternoon... they are showing the act II libretto film again.

So, I am thinking, the 6th, that second Sunday...

Who is with me?

Twisteroo... it's only about 800 miles...
Numbers... it's only about 500 miles...
and you over 9000 could car pool, for half of it...
marmite... it's only about...
well, i can't seem to find walking mileage for you...
or South Africa, for that matter...
hmph.

Truer words were never spoken. I do believe I will pass along this valuable piece of musical advice. (then, maybe I can laugh about it later?)

btw... thanks again for Hayseed Dixie. Their sense of humor always reminds me of TFM.

Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly see.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don't speak out as plain as day?
And, fellow Texans, I'm for progress and the flag- long may it fly.
I'm a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that I cannot tell a lie.

Ooh I baxter to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I baxter to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I'm for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I'll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya'll...

Ooh I baxter to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I baxter to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Now, Miss Mona, I don't know her, though I've heard the name, oh yes.
But, of course I've no close contact, so what she is doing I can only guess.
And now, Miss Mona, she's a blemish on the face of that good town.
I am taking certain steps here, someone somewhere's gonna have to close her down.

Ooh I baxter to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I baxter to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Ooh I baxter to dance a little sidestep...

And, ooh I baxter to sweep around the wide step...

Cut a little swathe and lead the people on.
