I have been staying pretty busy recently, so I should apologize for not being here more often. But it won't do any good, I will still be random... and I am sure you wouldn't have me any other way.
series 7 poker (and yes they do have a forum, of course)
That's where I have been spending all my time. Currently 4 days per week... so it's not a well paying job yet, but once we pick up a full week, it will be.
And no I am not a huge poker fan... I have always enjoyed any kind of cards, but the style we play, no limit Texas hold'em, I am a little new to. Let's see... I think it's been about 6 weeks that I have been playing this brand of poker.
I am meeting a variety of interesting people. I had no idea how many people make a living at playing poker. (and have no day jobs)
I should be starting the financial paperwork shortly on the house... and I tentatively plan to break ground next month. So far we only have bids on the site and road prep... which should run between $6k and $10K. I hope to get an estimate on the water this/next week... and some advice on whether hydro-electric is a real option. I did find something
very interesting. I still need to research it more... but it's starting to look like we will be able to find affordable wind power.
My dad is working on getting me a really good day job. Usually in the summers, I throw-in with him landscaping. He's had an offer to do all of the city's landscaping for a local town... the bid is still be discussed. If he gets the job he is going to subcontract it to me. Then he will get me the wholesale rates on the plants and let me use all his equipment... and I can work whenever I find time and make a tidy profit on top of it.
My brother just graduated from college with a 2 year degree (he starts back in the fall at a better school to work on a 4 year degree). So, we had to come up with a graduation present. Both Craig's list and Ebay left me very disappointed. Everything I found disappeared before I could get to it. So, I finally gave up on finding a good used deal and went to Sears. And I am thrilled that I did... I found a sweet gift, for a tiny price. We bought him and air hockey table (regularly $600, marked down to $150). The only disappointing thing: it was too big for me to haul it to his house... so we had to pay another $65 to have it delivered. But ya know, if that's the only disappointment (that it was too big) I can't exactly complain. Then we spent about 3 hours assembling it... and played until we were all exhausted. And would you believe... it has cup holders?!? How lush is that. It's 4 feet by 7 1/2 feet. And we bought a few extra pucks, so we played with about 4 pucks concurrently... makes for a very fast paced version. It's also big enough for 4 players... so that was a new experience... now it's not just the puck from which you can expect painful impacts, but also your partner. I love it... and I think my brother does too. Now his wife has the opportunity to practice and perhaps finally beat him at it.
